Xingcheng
今天的兴城县城，即明清两代的宁远州城，是我国现存古城中保存最完好的一座。其内城呈正方形，南北长825.5米，东西长803.7米，全高10.1米。四门，门上有城楼。门外有瓮城。城内有十字大街，正中有一座鼓楼，南大街有一石牌坊。 明朝时宁远为边关重镇，著名大将袁崇焕曾驻守城中，在此屡败清兵。清太祖努尔哈赤、清太宗皇太极都曾是袁崇焕的手下败将。可叹的是，明代昏君崇祯听信谗言，杀了袁崇焕，自毁长城，......
The Xingcheng county today, used to be known as Ningyuanzhou in the Ming and Qing Dynasties, is one of the best protected ancient cities in China. Shaped in square, the city is 825 meters long from north to south, and 803 meters from east fo west. There are 4 gates, 1 drum tower and a stone torii.
