The Mountain Taishan
As the first of the "Five Sacred Mountain", Mt Tai is located in the central part of Shandong Province, within the provincts of Jinan, Licheng and Tai'an, covering an area of 426 square kilometres. The hightest peak of this mountain range about 1545 metres above sea level, lies within Tai'an City. Mt. Tai abounds in lofty peaks, deep valleys and rare cultural relics of the old days. A number of Chinese proverbs or sayings in praise of man's noble qualities are associated with Mt Tai. One who fails to recognize a somebody has been compared to person unable to see Mt Tai. Something unshakable or impregnable is often referred to a person unable to as being "stable as Mt Tai". And as the saying goes, only by ascending Mt Tai will you find how dwarfish all mountains under heaven are.
